RITA DOMINIC'S WONDERFUL SPEECH AT PRESIDENTIAL LUNCH

President recently held a lunch with young Nigerians at the Eko Hotel and Suites. The event was attended by many Nigerian celebrities in the music and movie industry. Nollywood superstar Rita Dominic was among the attendees and was also given an opportunity to make a speech. Here is what she had to say "I feel privileged to be living in a time where I can proudly say that young Nigerians are seriously advocating for a better Nigeria. Some people may disagree with me but I believe we may now have a President willing to listen to us and identify with our hopes and aspirations. If you don’t agree, then you have to show me a past president of Nigeria who has actively pursued the youth vote? Show me a past Nigerian president who has used social networks utilized by our young people to reach out them? Show me a past president who has set aside a 200 million Dollar intervention fund dedicated to an industry that is one of the largest employers of young people in Nigeria…. I rest

NOLLYWOOD AND NEPC IN KENYA TO ATTRACT INVESTORS

Nigerian Export Promotion Council and Nollywood  are to go on Road shows in Kenya to attract investors and to promote the Nigeria movie industry in Kenya. Confirming this, NEPC Executive director told journalists “The road show is part of the council’s strategy in sustaining the unprecedented growth in the movies industry. The rave of review in international media on Nigerian movies lays credence to the fact that the industry boost of massive potentials and growth,” he said. “The road show is primarily intended to promote our fast growing movie industry. The programme will also promote and sensitize the industry by exposing the potentials of Nigerian artists whose services will generate foreign exchange earnings,” he said. “The road show which comes up between 25th to 30th May, will feature participants from Kenya Film Commission, Censorship Board, Actors Guild of Kenya, Media, scholars, workshop at US International University which has about 100 Nigerian students.”

PIPELINE EXPLOSION KILLS 2 IN DELTA

A pipeline explosion in Delta State has killed two reports suggest. The Delta State police spoken person Charles Muka said the explosion might have been caused by pipeline vandals. He said "There was a pipeline fire at Amukpe-Sapele on Tuesday. It was caused by suspected vandals. I have no information on casualties and no arrests have been made so far," he told AFP by telephone from Asaba, the state capital.

NOLLYWOOD VETERAN ASHLEY NWOSU TO BE BURIED JUNE 11 - REPORTS

Reports has it that the late Nollywood veteran Ashley Nwosu wouold buried on June 11, 2011. The late star passed away late April. Reports from nigeriafilm.com suggests he will be buried in his hometown in Abia State, Nigeria on the 11th of June. The report also has it that there will be a service of songs for the deceased on that same day at Country Club in Ikoyi, Lagos.

D'BANJ, TUFACE GET 'BET AWARDS' NOMINATIONS

Nigerian musicians Tuface Idibia and the Koko-master D'banj have been nominated in this year's BET Awards. Tuface Idibia and D’Banj have been nominated as they fall under the ‘Best International Act: Africa’ category. Last year, Nigerians M.I and P Square were the first Nigerian acts to be included in the nominations list. Tuface and D’banj will contend with Congolese singer Fally Ipupa, South African rap duo Teargas, D-Black from Ghana and the legendary singer Angelique Kidjo. The show will take place on Sunday, June 26, 2011 and will be hosted by American actor and comedian Kevin Hart.

MERCY JOHNSON SET FOR THE ALTER AND WANTS FOUR KIDS

Lets Gist Naija can confirm that the screen queen Mercy Johnson would soon be walking on the aisle. She will be getting married on August 27, 2011. She confirmed this in an interview recently. In the interview, she denied reports she had postponed her her wedding severally hinting that no date has been set before the August 27 date. When asked what she would be wearing? She said "I’m actually going to Paris to shop for that, I’ve got lots of catalogs. I’m going to the U.S with my hubby next week to also search for good ones because it just has to be perfect and that means I have to travel a lot this period." She sounds very excited about it.
